news Biella UNESCO Creative City: digital storytelling workshops kick off for Young Ambassadors
On Monday 9 February, at the Q. Sella Technical Industrial Institute in Biella, the first of two workshops organized by BIA took place as part of the project “Youth, Creativity, Innovation”. The workshop focused on exploring tools and techniques for the production of digital content for storytelling and for the promotion of the territory through social media, involving the students selected to become Young Ambassadors of Biella UNESCO Creative City.
The project, in which BIA is responsible for the design and implementation of the Capacity Building program for the City of Biella, aims to introduce the participating young people to the functioning of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. The goal is to enable them to conceive and develop projects and content capable of narrating their territory as informed ambassadors of their city at both national and international levels.
Following an introductory session led by BIA, dedicated to exploring the role of Biella as a UNESCO Creative City, the participants moved on to hands-on activities through a digital storytelling workshop curated by Ilenia Curiale, content creator and founder of the social project “Ti ci devo portare in Sicilia”.
Through case studies, practical exercises and moments of discussion, the workshop guided future Young Ambassadors in developing digital narratives that enhance the local cultural, social and environmental heritage. It also addressed the opportunities, limitations and ethical and communicative implications of social media platforms, encouraging a more conscious and responsible approach to the digital world.
The next workshop is scheduled for Thursday, March 12th with the Design Lab “Territori Tessili”, led by Valerio Aprigliano, graphic designer, founder and creative director of studio about. During the lab, participants will work on designing a textile pattern inspired by Biella UNESCO Creative City.
