projects Impact Assessment – “Slow Food in Action. Another Idea of the World” Project

The Slow Food Italia project

“Slow Food in Action: Another Idea of the World” is promoted by Slow Food Italia together with 11 regional associations and Terra! APS. ICPI and five municipalities are also involved on a voluntary basis. The project aims to promote sustainable agriculture, food education and responsible consumption across all Italian regions. It includes the development of the network through the online Food to Action Academy and residential workshops for activists. The project also includes the educational journey of the Ark of Taste in 10 Slow Food Gardens, with teacher training and the Gardens Festival (an estimated 35,000 students). In addition, the project strengthens the Earth Markets as places for local food policies, through a pilot initiative in five regions targeting people under 35.

BIA’s role: impact assessment

BIA will carry out the project’s social impact assessment throughout the entire 18-month period. The work will be carried out in close and constant coordination with the Slow Food Italia project manager and the coordinators of the different macro-areas.

During the first phase, BIA will establish the assessment methodology: it will analyse the project documentation, define the evaluation model, objectives, expected results and indicators, and prepare the monitoring plan and related timeline.

Throughout the project, BIA will collect data through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and direct observation of events and training activities, in coordination with the regional coordinators. The data will then be processed through statistical and qualitative analysis.

Changes will be measured against the baseline situation and compared with similar experiences in the Third Sector, in order to identify strengths, critical issues and recommendations.

An interim report will be produced after 12 months, followed by a final report including a summary for partners and funders and, if appropriate, a follow-up assessment one year after the project’s completion. BIA will also present the findings at a dedicated meeting and provide monitoring tools that can be reused after the project ends.
