news The new SiMGeo portal dedicated to the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark is now online

The new SiMGeo website is now online – the Eco-Museum Geotourism System of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark: a digital portal designed to explore, discover and rediscover the UNESCO Geopark territory through multimedia content, community maps, thematic routes and in-depth insights.

The new website represents a space for access and knowledge to discover the 9 municipalities (Enna, Aidone, Assoro, Calascibetta, Leonforte, Nissoria, Piazza Armerina, Valguarnera and Villarosa) that make up the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark, a unique territory in the heart of central Sicily where geology, culture and communities have coexisted for millennia.

Through both a narrative and scientific approach, designed to enhance cultural and tourist experiences, the portal allows you to explore:

– the network of 9 municipalities of the UNESCO Geopark and their community maps;

8 thematic itineraries (Sulphur, Extraction, Wheat, Water, Roots, Living, Myth and Kore Siciliae)

– the Media Gallery, which collects the voices and faces of the community through video interviews, stories and images

News & Events, to stay updated on what’s happening in the territory

Each route is accompanied by videos, testimonies and voices from the communities who live in and preserve these places: a digital heritage that allows you to explore the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark from home and to plan visits, excursions and activities.

The SiMGeo website was created to make the identity of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark more accessible, along with the connections between landscapes, local memory, agricultural practices, mining heritage and new forms of active permanence.

A portal that enhances research, participation, scientific dissemination and cultural reactivation.
