projects Biella UNESCO Creative City: the new strategic and communication plan for 2026–2028 developed by BIA

In recent years, Biella has undergone a profound transformation process, redefining its role within an evolving economic and cultural context. Historically linked to excellence in textile manufacturing, the area has been able to rethink itself by focusing on creativity, innovation, and sustainability as strategic drivers of development.

This journey reached a decisive turning point in 2019, when Biella joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of Crafts & Folk Art: a recognition that opened the city to an international dimension, strengthening the dialogue between culture, business, and community.

BIA’s role in the Biella UNESCO Creative City project

Within this context, BIA has supported the project since its earliest stages: from drafting the UNESCO candidature dossier in 2019 to supporting the preparation of the four-year monitoring report in 2023, BIA has contributed to building a strong strategic vision consistent with the identity of the territory.

In 2025, BIA returned alongside the Biella Creative City Association to develop the 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, with the goal of transforming UNESCO recognition into concrete and long-lasting actions.

The 2026–2028 Strategic Plan for Biella UNESCO Creative City

In 2026, BIA was entrusted with the Project Management of the Association: the strategic path launched looks toward an integrated development model, capable of combining the enhancement of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, the strengthening of relationships between institutions, businesses, and communities, and innovation in cultural and productive processes.

The goal is to build a shared vision for the future, where creativity becomes a real driver of growth and territorial cohesion.

Communication strategy and digital channel management

Alongside strategic planning and project coordination, BIA will also manage the development and communication of Biella UNESCO Creative City, working on multiple levels:

  • communication strategy definition
  • development of a structured editorial plan
  • management of Instagram and Facebook social media channels
  • creation of a coordinated visual identity
  • website renewal, including page reorganization and SEO-oriented content rewriting

A project designed to communicate Biella UNESCO Creative City to different audiences, both nationally and internationally.

The 2026–2028 three-year period: new opportunities for the Biella area

The 2026–2028 period opens as a new operational chapter, where the outlined strategies can be transformed into projects, networks, and opportunities capable of strengthening Biella’s role within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and supporting the sustainable development of the territory.

The BIA method: cultural planning and territorial development

The project, developed together with the Biella Creative City Association, reflects BIA’s approach to territorial planning: a method based on listening, context analysis, and the construction of shared visions, capable of translating complex strategies into concrete and measurable actions.

This work follows a logic of continuity and constant updating, capable of interpreting ongoing changes and transforming them into new project lines and intervention methods consistent with Biella’s role as a UNESCO Creative City. It has also laid the foundations for a broader reflection on the future of the Biella area, where manufacturing tradition, innovation, and community work together to build new perspectives for sustainable development.
